We finished up our Small Moment books and used our Build-a-Turkey writing assessment to see how many feathers we earned! This time, we had been working on writing a beginning, middle, and end. Ya’ll, this is tough! Several of mine have a story with a BME in their mind, but when they write it, they leave out crucial parts. We are definitely still working on this!
These writing assessments are a great way to have students also monitor their periods, capitals, and spaces! My students definitely need reminders to do the basics this time of year.
Look how cute they turned out!
First, have your students complete a writing piece. I included several templates to choose from.
Then, use the checklist and feathers to have your students review their own writing to make sure they have what they need. I love seeing how proud my students are of their own work! Activities like these are a great way to have purposeful crafts in your classroom.
When I recently updated this in my TeachersPayTeachers store, I included a blank checklist template so you can assess any writing conventions you need to!
Check out the Build-a-Turkey Writing Craft Assessment to use with your little ones this week! I’d love to see how they turn out!
Finally, if you love writing craftivities with a purpose, you might want to check out my All Year Writing Crafts Bundle to save money and be set for the entire year.
