We know that we need two things to build skilled readers.
We need to teach word recognition and language comprehension.
“Just reuse the lessons.”
“The standards don’t change that often.”
“Admin knows I can teach now, so I can just wing it as I go.”
A growing collection of engaging, done-for-you read aloud lessons for kindergarten, first grade, and second grade teachers.
I know you may be thinking, “But Amanda, I have required curriculum to use. Plus, I’m not sure I have time in my schedule for read alouds.”
Here is the truth, friend!
The Read Aloud Library is flexible enough to fit into the schedule you already have.
Choose the book, prompts, and activities that best support your students and your schedule.
Because I know that spending your own money on something that is for work can feel not only frustrating, but also risky, I want to help by removing that risk with my Love It Guarantee.
Join, explore the library, download a lesson, and see how it works in your classroom. If it is not the right fit, you can cancel your monthly membership.
Research has proven that reading aloud to children helps build the connection between spoken language and written language for our budding readers.
The read aloud lessons are created with kindergarten through second grade in mind. The books have been thoughtfully chosen based on students’ listening levels, comprehension abilities, and grade level standards.

Great question! While the format will be very similar to the strategy specific lessons in my TpT shop, the books are different and there are many added elements. Also, reading strategies and skills are included in The Read Aloud Library that are not included on TpT, such as cause and effect, main idea, and others! Each of The Read Aloud Library lessons can be purchased on TpT, but the teaching slides and comprehension quizzes are not included. They are exclusive to The Read Aloud Library.
No. The Read Aloud Library provides supplemental lessons that can be used alongside the reading and math curriculum your school requires.
No physical books are included. If you don’t own the books for each month, check your school library and public library. Many books can also be found read aloud on YouTube as well if you can’t find one in one of your libraries.
Each set of 20 read aloud lessons will be instantly delivered to your online portal, The Read Aloud Library, on the 23rd of each month. For example, February read alouds will appear on January 23rd.
No, each teacher will need their own membership to join. I do offer school discounts for groups of 5 or more who are making a purchase. You can reach out to us at sc*****@*****************ss.com Thank you for supporting my small business.
I can always share a list of books used in past lessons, but we work a month in advance so I cannot tell you all the books that will be used in the future. Inside The Read Aloud Library, as soon as we have books picked for the month, I list them so you can work ahead and grab books from your local library or school library!
Yes! The new math lessons will be added on the 23rd of each month also.
During my days in the kindergarten and first grade classroom, teaching reading was the most overwhelming part of my day early on. What a big thing to teach such little people!
I would spend many Friday nights on the floor of my favorite bargain bookstore searching through children’s books to find the perfect book to help teach a reading strategy or skill.
I have spent years reading books to both my classroom kids and my own kids at home. My teacher brain never turns off. I am constantly looking for a great read aloud to teach a reading skill or strategy that is also fun for the season, has a meaningful lesson, and most of all is enjoyable so that kids learn to LOVE reading!
Over time, I also saw that the right book could do more than strengthen comprehension. Stories could help students visualize math, wrestle with problems, explain their thinking, and see concepts in a context that mattered to them.
That is why The Read Aloud Library is growing to include purposeful math read aloud lessons, too. Teachers can now use the same joyful, engaging approach across more of the school day.
I have shared read aloud lessons with thousands of teachers. Together we have saved time and worked to build skilled readers!

I know you may be thinking, “But Amanda, I have required curriculum to use. Plus, I’m not sure I have time in my schedule for read alouds.”
And to that, my friend, I ask:
Building skilled readers is not something we can chance, friend. We know what the Science of Reading research says and we must include them.
We owe it to our readers to teach both word recognition skills and language comprehension so that we can build skilled readers.
I can’t wait to get these effective lessons in your hands!
