Making 10

I truly believe having a firm foundation of numeracy is SO important. My class this year is not the strongest in this area. With my kinder class last year, we made number bracelets for EVERY number and wrote a number story for EVERY number. I really feel that this helps out a ton! Next year, I will just rewind and do that. BUT for the time being, we were able to do that with the number 10.
Here is what our number bracelet looked like. Each kid made their own. There is power in this.

As we made them, we also made this chart which we call “The Story of 10”.
(note: in kinder, I didn’t use + and =, just the “and” and “is”)

We practiced telling the story of 10 with a partner.

I HIGHLY recommend this when teaching numeracy. 🙂

Happy Teaching,

Amanda
